Handle and Purses Up, Race Days Down During Second Quarter of 2007 The Horsemen's Journal - Fall 2007On July 17, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) and Equibase Company LLC released the “Thoroughbred Racing Economic Indicators“ for United States and Canadian pari-mutuel wagering on U.S. Thoroughbred racing during the second quarter of 2007, as well as for U.S. purses and race days, with prior-year, second-quarter comparisons.
Pari-mutuel handle increased 0.87% in year-over-year, second quarter comparisons. The increase was achieved despite a decline of 1.36% in race days over the same period. Total purses increased 0.82% during the corresponding time period. Return
